Performance league table (PLT) and participant scorecard calculations.
Calculating the PLT is a three-step process.
- The metrics are used to rank participants for each metric.
- The rank is used to derive a score for each participant for each metric.
- The scores for each metric are weighted and added to give the participants overall position in the PLT.
Rank for each metric
Participants are ranked according to how they have performed in the compliance year. The highest (best performance) is ranked at the top and the lowest (worst performance) is ranked at the bottom.
For the Early Action Metrics the higher the percentage the better the ranking. For the Absolute and Growth Metrics those participants with the greatest relative reduction in their emissions or emission per unit turnover/revenue (compared to their rolling historic average) will have the best ranking.
Score
This ranking is then converted into a score. The best ranked getting the highest score (equal to the number of participants in that metric). The lowest score is for the worst ranked participant. If a participant has entered no information on their turnover/revenue they will not get a ranking for the Growth Metric and therefore will get a score of 0.
Where a number of participants have the same relative performance they will be listed in alphabetical order and their scores will be the mean of their total cumulative scores. This means that if there are a large number of participants with the same ranking, their score will be equal to (highest score of group - ((size of group - 1)/2). The total weighted score then gives the overall ranking in the PLT, with the highest score being ranked first and the lowest score being at the bottom of the table.
